Provaunt® has been Discontinued

22 Jul

Provaunt® is a water dispersible granular insecticide with the active ingredient of indoxacarb. Several years ago, a Special Local Need (SLN) label was obtained in order to mix Provaunt® (EPA Reg. No. 100-1487) into the HAL Gel Bait for management of Little Fire Ants. Unfortunately, this product has been discontinued, and is no longer available for purchase. Please note, there are other products with similar names, but only Provaunt® (EPA Reg. No. 100-1487) can legally be mixed into the HAL Gel Bait.

If you still have a bottle of Provaunt®, you should work towards using it up. We are in the process of finding an alternative product to incorporate into the HAL Gel Bait in lieu of Provaunt®. Once a SLN is obtained for the new product, the Provaunt® SLN will no longer be valid, because Hawaii can only hold one SLN per intended use (lethal bait for arboreal application). Moreover, homeowners and applicator will no longer be able to legally mix Provaunt® in the HAL Gel Bait.

The Hawai’i Ant Lab is here to answer any questions or provide clarification. Feel free to contact us at (808) 315-5656.  Once an alternative is obtained, we will post another update.
