Welcome to the
Hawaiʻi Ant Lab

We are a small lab based in Hilo, Hawaiʻi with two other locations in Kailua-Kona and Oʻahu. We work with residents, agriculture, the green industry, and plant nurseries to provide solutions for the many impacts caused by invasive ants.

Our Mission

Protect

Protect Hawaiʻi from new introductions of invasive ants.

Provide

Provide sound, practical treatment methods for homeowners, natural resource managers and industry.

Prevent

Prevent the inter-island and intra-island spread of existing invasive ant species.

Eradicate

Eradicate new infestations whenever possible.

What We Do

We study invasive ants and develop new methods to manage them. This is an ongoing process that makes HAL the leading agency on LFA management strategies in the world.
